Parmelee Picks Up Two Wins at NAIA Championships

PARK CITY, Kan. – Northwestern wrestlers Noah Parmelee and Kaleb Grove competed at the NAIA Championships inside Hartman Arena this weekend. Parmelee compiled a record of 2-2 while Grove competed in a pair of bouts.

After Parmelee fell in his opening match to No. 8 Thomas Williams of St. Thomas, he bounced back in the first consolation to pin No. 9, returning All-American Edrich Nortje of Dickinson State. In a battle to stay alive in the consolation bracket, Parmelee went to extra time against Indiana Tech's Conner Kimbrough, coming away with a 9-6 sudden victory. Parmelee's run came to an end on Friday, as he was defeated by Cole McKinley of Lourdes by major decision.

Kaleb Grove battled his way to the NAIA Championships in his first collegiate season, but faced tough competition in the first round, falling to Elias Corona of Southern Oregon. Grove lost a close match in his second appearance, picking up two escape points and adding on a penalty, but ultimately fell 4-3 to Oklahoma City's Omari Smith.
