Potent Offense Propels Raiders to Second Round

Huntington, IN - In the first round of the NAIA championships, Northwestern is bolstered by the return of Alex Van Kalsbeek and a strong offensive performance with a 99-80 win over Graceland University.

The Raiders opened the game with an early lead, highlighted by a 13-point advantage at the 1:39 mark. Alex and jesse Van Kalsbeek were huge factors in the paint while Jalen Langsy contributed with crucial 3-pointers. The team's defensive efforts, including key rebounds by Jesse Van Kalsbeek, helped maintain a lead, concluding the half ahead 42-32. In the second half, the Raiders extended their lead significantly with a strong offensive performance, led by Alex Van Kalsbeek who contributed with multiple baskets and free throws. Kaleb Booth was also instrumental, adding points through successful free throws and assists. The team maintained their momentum with effective scoring, ultimately achieving their largest lead of 26 points with 20 seconds remaining in the game.

  • Jesse Van Kalsbeek led the team in rebounds with 10 and added 22 points
  • For the sixth time this year, Kaleb Booth dished out 6 assists
  • Northwestern shot 64.4% from the field and 53.3% from three, good for the fourth and sixth best rates this season
  • Jalen Langsy continued to be a strong 3pt shooter, going 4-5 on the day
