Northwestern Puts Four in Double Figures for Quarterfinal Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Raiders responded to a second-half challenge from Briar Cliff to punch their ticket to the GPAC Semifinals, winning 83-65.

The Red Raiders established a strong lead over the Chargers early on, highlighted by a three-pointer from Jalen Langsy at 18:56, followed by a layup from Zach LaFave at 18:20, contributing to an early 5-0 start. Jesse Van Kalsbeek was instrumental, securing several defensive rebounds and making two free throws at 17:36 to extend the lead. The team reached its largest lead of 18 points at 10:13, thanks to an alley-oop dunk from Zach LaFave, while Kaleb Booth also contributed with a triple at 15:00. The Raiders closed the half ahead 46-37, with consistent scoring and effective defense throughout.

The Chargers took a late first-half surge into the second frame, coming within four points on multiple occasions in the first three minutes out of the break. However, Northwestern maintained control, extending their lead to 21 points at one stage, with Van Kalsbeek contributing significantly by scoring multiple key layups and free throws. Booth also played a crucial role in extending the lead, hitting a three on one end and later blocking a layup attempt by the Chargers in the following possession. The Raiders closed out the game leading for the entire 40 minutes, responding to postseason adversity for the win.
