Raiders Bounce Back with 19-Point Road Win

HASTINGS, Neb.. – The Northwestern men's basketball team clinched a commanding 104-85 win over Hastings at Lynn Farrell Arena on Saturday, showcasing an impressive 65.5 percent shooting from the field.

Northwestern charged into the first half with precision, ignited by Jalen Langsy's opening jumper. They quickly gained traction with a flurry of jumpers from Jesse Van Kalsbeek and a three-pointer by Manny Hammonds, putting the Raiders in the driver's seat early on.

With smooth ball movement and sharp shooting, Northwestern kept their edge, highlighted by Kaleb Booth's pair of three-pointers. Despite Hastings' attempts to close in, the Raiders stretched their lead to eleven points with 4:57 left in the half, thanks to key assists and strong defensive rebounds.

As the first half wrapped up, Northwestern tightened their grip, with Van Kalsbeek adding crucial points to safeguard the lead. By halftime, the Raiders were ahead 49–39.

Kicking off the second half, Northwestern widened the gap with a series of three-pointers. Booth and Langsy each struck from beyond the arc, at one point pushing the lead to 22 points. The Raiders' defense clamped down on Hastings' chances, allowing them to hold their advantage.

As the game progressed, Northwestern's offensive prowess shone, with Van Kalsbeek and Brennan Reid sinking vital baskets. Despite the Broncos' efforts to chip away at the lead, the Raiders' steady scoring and solid defensive rebounding kept them firmly in control. The game concluded with Northwestern comfortably ahead at 104-85.

  • Northwestern shot 65.5% from the field and made a season-high 18 threes.
  • Kaleb Booth tied his career-high with 21 points, going 7-for-10 from beyond the arc.
  • Jesse Van Kalsbeek led the scoring effort with 28 points.
  • The sophomore forward added 11 assists and seven boards to his stat line as well.
  • Jalen Langsy scored 25 points, dishing out seven assists and grabbing five rebounds.
  • Brennan Reid had his second consecutive 10-rebound performance.
