Overtime Road Loss for Raiders

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - A back and forth shootout in Sioux City as Northwestern and Morningside treated fans to an overtime thriller, where the Mustangs would edge out the Raiders 96-93, handing Northwetsern their third conference loss of the season.

The first half saw Northwestern set the pace with a series of scoring bursts. Jalen Langsy and Isaac Cordes made their mark with crucial three-pointers, while Jesse Van Kalsbeek's free throws and assists kept the Raiders slightly ahead. Northwestern capitalized on quick transitions and dominated in the paint, building a nine-point lead with 7:30 left in the half. Morningside fought back, chipping away at the lead through layups and staunch defense, even briefly taking the lead. Yet, Northwestern's steady shooting and seamless ball movement helped them regain control. As the half closed, the Raiders held a narrow 43-41 lead over the Mustangs.

The second half opened with Northwestern firing on all cylinders, quickly establishing a seven-point lead at the 16:30 mark, punctuated by a three-pointer from Kaleb Booth. This early push was further fueled by Jalen Langsy's layup and a fast break, extending their advantage. However, Morningside rallied with a series of well-executed plays, leveling the game at 63 with 11:32 remaining. As the clock ticked down, Northwestern received key contributions from Brennan Reid, who knocked down multiple three-pointers, and Langsy, who consistently found the hoop to keep the game tight. Despite their efforts, the Mustangs edged ahead late in the half. Langsy hit a critical three-pointer to tie the game at 84 in the dying seconds, leaving the teams deadlocked as regulation ended.

In the extra period, Northwestern gained momentum with Jesse Van Kalsbeek sinking two free throws to briefly pull ahead. Kaleb Booth then nailed a pivotal three-pointer, courtesy of an assist from Langsy, to reclaim a slender lead. Despite a clutch steal by Van Kalsbeek, Morningside answered with timely buckets to regain the upper hand. Reid's layup temporarily put the Raiders back in front, but Morningside's late three-pointer secured their narrow victory, 96-93.
