Northwestern Overcomes Halftime Deficit for GPAC Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – In a hard-fought showdown at the Bultman Center, Northwestern emerged victorious over Midland with a commanding 92-75 win on Saturday. The Red Raiders were on fire from beyond the arc, shooting a stellar 53.8%, which fueled their impressive second-half surge.

The game opened with Northwestern setting the pace early, thanks to a three-pointer from Brennan Reid with an assist from Kaleb Booth. The Raiders kept the energy high with a balanced attack, racking up ten points in the paint and nine from the bench. They managed to seize the lead twice in the opening half, peaking with a three-point advantage just five seconds in.

On the defensive end, Northwestern was relentless, grabbing sixteen rebounds, including six on the offensive glass, converting those into eleven second-chance points. Despite the back-and-forth battle filled with ties and lead changes, the Raiders held their ground with 15 field goals and five three-pointers, keeping pace with the Warriors. The half concluded with Northwestern narrowly trailing 39-38, following a late layup by Jesse Van Kalsbeek.

The second half saw the Raiders swiftly overturn an early four-point deficit at 19:04, courtesy of a smooth jumper by Jalen Langsy. What followed was a momentum shift, sparked by Van Kalsbeek's drives to the basket and a three-pointer from Booth, knotting the score at 44-44 by 17:08. Northwestern maintained its offensive rhythm, with Manny Hammonds and Reid stepping up from long range, pushing the lead into double digits.

Capitalizing on Midland's turnovers and defensive lapses, Reid and Langsy kept the scoring opportunities coming. By the 4:38 mark, Northwestern's lead had ballooned to 18 points, leaving the Warriors trailing in the dust with their sharp shooting, including nine three-pointers. The Raiders wrapped up the game in style, dominating the second half 54-36 and sealing the deal with a 92-75 triumph.
