Langsy’s 49 Points, Van Kalsbeek’s Near Triple-Double Fuel Home Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Jalen Langsy scored 49 points, and Jesse Van Kalsbeek had a 47-point double-double as Northwestern took down William Penn (Iowa) 128-106 in a fast-paced showdown in the Bultman Center.

Northwestern opened the first half with a quick score by Jesse Van Kalsbeek, assisted by Kaleb Booth, establishing an early lead at 19:25. The Raiders maintained momentum through effective free throw shooting, with Kalsbeek converting multiple attempts, keeping the score tight in the early minutes. However, William Penn responded with a series of made buckets, increasing their lead through the early going.

Despite the Red Raiders' efforts, highlighted by Jalen Langsy's consistent scoring and Van Kalsbeek's presence in the paint, the Statesmen extended their advantage to a 16-point lead at 7:42. Northwestern's defensive plays, including blocks by Van Kalsbeek, and continued offensive contributions from Langsy and Booth, brought them within striking distance late in the half. The first half concluded with the Raiders trailing 66-59, with both teams shooting over 65% entering the break.

The Raiders capitalized on a strong offensive performance in the second half, quickly narrowing the Statesmen's early advantage. The Raiders took the lead for the first time in over 20 minutes of play with a bucket by Van Kalsbeek to make it 72-71. After the sides traded leads through the midway part of the second half, the Raiders went on a 13-0 run over three minutes to push the lead to 118-98. During the run, an alley-oop from Cordes to Van Kalsbeek and a three from Booth helped seal the deal, advancing Northwestern to 6-0 heading into GPAC play.
