Wrestlers Shine at First Tournament of New Year

Pella, IA – The Raiders kicked off 2025 heading on the road to central Iowa where they took part in the Central College Invitational. Multiple wrestlers would place in the top six in their respective weight classes.

Northwestern would face many tough opponents from around the state of Iowa including much of the Division III American Rivers Conference as well as Upper Iowa from Division II. "We had a great day of wrestling. The guys wrestled hard and I was proud to see them developing in their technique," head coach Rik Dahl expressed. Devin Padilla and Noah Parmalee would place the highest for the Raiders as they both took fourth. Padilla picked up a fall in the quarterfinal round at 157lbs as Parmalee battled tough decision matches at 141lbs all day.

The Raiders would have three wrestlers place 5^th as well as three more wrestlers finish in 6^th. This included freshman Carter Peterson who earned two wins by fall on his way to his 6^th place finish. Taye Jordan also competed well with a win by tech fall to go alongside a pin to earn himself a spot in the 5^th place match. "Super impressed with Taye, who went 3-1 and finished fifth," said Coach Dahl. "He was attacking the whole day, looking to score points, and scoring on the edge."
