ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College athletics has named men's track and field student-athlete
Carson Van Sickle and women's track and field student-athlete
Tierney Huss as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of January 27th.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Carson Van Sickle, Men's Track
- Van Sickle (Fr., Ogden, Iowa) once again took 1st in the 800m dash Saturday at Buena Vista setting a new PR of 1:54.88.
- This would be the third win in a row for the freshman after he took 1st in the 800m two weeks ago at Dordt and last week at Mount Marty.
- Van Sickle officially qualified for NAIA nationals with his 800m winning time.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tierney Huss, Women's Track
- Huss (Fr., Orange City, Iowa) took first place in three events at Dennis Young Classic on Saturday.
- For the second week in a row, Huss would break the program record in the 60m with a time of 7.79 seconds.
- Huss also finished first in the long jump (5.35m) and the 200m dash (26.14 seconds).
