Raiders Dropped by Hot-Shooting Mustangs

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern hosted Morningside inside the Bultman Center on Wednesday night, but the Mustangs worked toward a regular season split, defeating the Raiders 106-89.

In the first half of play, the Red Raiders demonstrated a strong offensive presence, with Zach LaFave opening the scoring with a three-pointer and contributing significantly throughout the half. Jalen Langsy also played a key role with a three and providing timely assists. The half saw the Raiders take a lead with a nine-point advantage at 4:09, but the Mustangs responded with a scoring run to close the gap, ending the first half with the Raiders narrowly trailing 56-53.

During the second half, Northwestern faced a challenging stretch against the Mustangs, who made six threes and converted on 10 free throws in the final 20 minutes. Jesse Van Kalsbeek led the team with key defensive rebounds and scoring efforts, contributing several baskets in the paint, including a layup at 84-68. Despite his efforts and a late three-pointer by Langsy at 94-79, Morningside maintained their lead, ultimately closing the half ahead with a score of 106-89.
