Northwestern Snap Losing Streak Against Lancers

Orange City, IA - Northwestern snapped their three game losing streak as they defeated Mount Marty at home Saturday in a 73-64 victory.

In the first half, the Raiders and Mount Marty exchanged leads, with the Raiders initially trailing 5-0 . Jesse Van Kalsbeek led the Raiders' response by scoring multiple times in the paint. As the half progressed, Alex Van Kalsbeek and Zach LaFave contributed significantly, with Van Kalsbeek scoring from the free-throw line and LaFave securing a defensive rebound followed by a layup. The Raiders held a narrow 33-30 lead at the end of the half, bolstered by a late three-pointer from Jesse Van Kalsbeek.

In the second half, the Raiders surged ahead with a 9-point lead late, thanks to key plays from Jesse and Alex Van Kalsbeek. Jalen Langsy also made an impact with a steal and a successful three-pointer with 1:22 remaining, helping the Raiders outscore the Lancers 40-34 in the second half.

Jesse Van Kalsbeek led the Red Raiders with a standout performance, scoring 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including two 3-pointers. He also contributed eight rebounds. Kaleb Booth was a key playmaker, dishing out six assists, while also scoring seven points and securing three rebounds. Jalen Langsy was effective on both ends, tallying 12 points, three steals, and two blocks. Zach LaFave made a significant contribution in the paint with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, alongside two blocks. Alex Van Kalsbeek was efficient offensively, scoring 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, and added eight rebounds to his stat line.
