Raiders Break the Century Mark in Big Win

Orange City, Iowa - Northwestern defeated the College of Saint Mary 102-60 on Saturday at the Bultman Center.

The Raiders and Flames ended the first quarter tied at 21 points. Northwestern took an early lead with a jumper by Lexie Van Kekerix at 8:27, followed by Hali Anderson hitting two free throws at 7:37, making it 4-2. Allison Piercy's 3-pointer at 5:53 put the Red Raiders ahead again at 7-6, and Molly Schany's 3-pointer at 4:41 kept the game close at 11-10. Akaysa Duitscher's 3-pointer at 1:17 helped Northwestern regain the lead at 14-13, which was extended to 18-16 by Kylie Foss's layup at 0:39. Despite a back-and-forth exchange of points, Duitscher's free throws in the final moments brought the score to 21-19 before a late layup by the Flames evened the score.

In the second quarter, the Red Raiders extended their lead with a strong performance, outscoring CSM 23-13. Key contributions came from Van Kekerix, who scored multiple times in the paint, and Piercy, who hit crucial 3-pointers, including one at the 8:00 mark. Anderson added to the momentum with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer, helping the Raiders establish a 10-point lead by the end of the quarter.

Northwestern dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Flames 33-10. Wobig kicked off the scoring with a 3-pointer, with Anderson contributing significantly by scoring two layups and a free throw during the quarter. Schany and Van Kekerix were effective in the paint, adding to the Raiders' 16 points scored from inside, while also maintaining a solid defense with 15 total rebounds and two blocks.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders maintained a strong performance, highlighted by Jenna Kluxdal's contributions, including multiple successful layups and free throws, extending their lead to a significant margin by the 4th minute. Duitscher played a key role with several assists and a successful steal, which was followed by a layup, contributing to the team's 25 points in the quarter. Maddie Pottebaum also added to the score with a 3-pointer and a subsequent layup, as the Red Raiders closed out the game with a 42-point lead, securing a dominant victory.
