Northwestern Falls in Sioux County Showdown

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Dordt put four players in double figures as Northwestern fell 68-48 in Wednesday night's rivalry matchup.

The Red Raiders had a balanced scoring effort in the first, with Ashtyn Wobig leading the way by scoring two three-pointers early, giving Northwestern a brief lead. Hali Anderson contributed with a layup and two free throws, while Kylie Foss added a layup as well. Defensively, Allison Piercy recorded a steal and a block, contributing to the Raiders' efforts to stay within striking distance. Despite these efforts, the Defenders maintained a steady scoring pace, leading 23-15 at the end of the quarter.

Northwestern struggled to find their rhythm in the second, scoring only eight points compared to Dordt's 20. Lexie Van Kekerix made two successful free throws at the start of the quarter, bringing the deficit to nine, but the top-ranked Defenders continued to add on to a halftime score of 43-23.

In the third quarter, the Raiders started well, highlighted by Hali Anderson's early jumper at the 9:15 mark. Despite the Defenders maintaining a lead, Northwestern's defensive efforts included blocks from Molly Schany and Jenna Kluxdal, as well as multiple rebounds by Lexie Van Kekerix and Kylie Foss, contributing to the team's persistence on the court.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders managed to outscore the Defenders 13 to 11, highlighted by Akaysa Duitscher's performance with a three-pointer at 9:50, sparking her to nine points in the fourth. Dordt, however, maintained their advantage throughout to remain unbeaten.
