Volleyball Sweeps to 15th Straight Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – With the GPAC's newest team coming to the Bultman Center on Wednesday, the Raiders powered through their way to a sweep and a 15-0 overall record.

NWC 3, WALDORF 0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-15)

How It Happened
The Raiders and Warriors battled through the opening set, with the visitors holding the lead up to a 17-13 score. Northwestern then rattled off an 8-0 run on Alysen Dexter's service, which saw Dexter collect two aces and Zavyr Metzger put up four blocks. It was all Northwestern from that point on, leading to a 25-21 win in the first frame.

Northwestern's momentum carried them into the second, where they forced a Waldorf timeout at 12-5. The Raiders continued their strong play out of the break, scoring five of the next six points up to a 17-6 lead. Waldorf began to string some points together, but Northwestern was too efficient for their opponent, winning the second set 25-15

Waldorf was the aggressor to begin set three, opening up a 5-0 lead before the Raiders responded with an 8-1 run of their own. Northwestern added to its lead through the middle part of the set, at one point leading 18-10, helping them close out the match with a 25-15 third set.

Game Notes:
  • Alysen Dexter stuffed the stat sheet with 11 kills, four service aces, four digs, and two blocks.
  • Zavyr Metzger added six blocks with five kills and an assist.
  • Jazlin Douma notched 10 digs, seven kills, and two blocks.
  • Liv Reitsma dished out 18 assists and added six digs.
  • Northwestern hit .253 and held Waldorf to a .011 clip.
