Northwestern Draws with William Penn in Front of Home Crowd

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – A physical matchup saw William Penn concede an own goal late as Northwestern picked up a 1-1 draw on Friday evening at the NWC Soccer Complex.

The two sides were deadlocked at 0-0 through the first half, with the Raiders getting looks late in the half but were unable to capitalize.

William Penn broke the tie at 51' as Sian Bah scored unassisted on a crossover in the box for her first goal of the season.

Later in the half, Northwestern scored to knot things up with an offensive attack that turned into an own goal at 82'. Both teams had chances in the waning moments to take the lead, but a solid defensive effort on each end closed the match with a draw.

GAME NOTES
  • Kylie Baccam led the Raiders in shot attempts (4) and shots on goal (3).
  • Peyton Anderson and Genesis Maldonado split time in net, earning four and six saves, respectively.
  • Avril Baccam attempted a shot on goal.
  • The Statesmen led in shot attempts 17-9.
