Timm and Swanson Score in Hard-Fought Contest

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Grace Timm scored her first goal of the year and Josi Swanson the first of her career as Avila (Mo.) put up three goals in the second half to take down the Red Raiders.

Northwestern scored fast and early to start the match, as Grace Timm scored her first goal with a minute played, converting on a ball sliced in by Avril Baccam. The Raiders continued to pile on the offense as Josi Swanson created to her left and sent the ball to the far corner for her first career goal.

The match was even throughout the rest of the first half, with Northwestern holding a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Avila was aggressive to open the second half, drawing a foul in the box and converting on a penalty kick to cut the deficit in half. With things looking promising for the home Raiders, Addison Yinger scored her second goal of the night with less than six minutes on the clock to knot the score at 2-2. With mere minutes to go, the Eagles scored to earn their first win of the season, knocking off Northwestern 3-2.
