Talamantes, Baccam Tally Multi-Goal Performances; Raiders Fall in Offensive Showcase

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – A high-scoring shootout saw Culver-Stockton (Mo.) take down Northwestern late, with the Red Raiders still searching for their first win of the 2024 season.

Kylie Baccam carried her momentum from the opening contest, scoring her second goal of the year to give Northwestern the lead a mere 96 seconds in. Minutes later, Marissa Talamantes netted her first goal of the campaign off the assist by Avril Baccam, stretching the Raider lead to 2-0.

With 14 minutes to go in the half, Northwestern drew a foul in the box, setting up Kylie Baccam for the penalty kick. Baccam took advantage, scoring for her third goal of the year and a 3-0 lead.

The Wildcats went on a furious run in the final moments of the first, cutting the deficit to one goal within a four-minute frame.

Northwestern reclaimed a two-goal lead with 36 minutes left on the clock, with Talamantes once again getting a chance off the assist by Avril Baccam, arcing the ball into the left corner.

After Culver-Stockton tied the match in the 68th minute, the Wildcats scored their third consecutive goal to secure the win at 82'.
