Northwestern Alum and Coach Boerigter to be Inducted to NACDA Hall of Fame

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Northwestern alum, former athletic director, and former multi-sport head coach Dr. Bob Boerigter ('70) has been selected for induction into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Boerigter was a recipient of the 2021 Northwestern Distinguished Professional Achievement Award, presented each year at Northwestern's Raider Nation Celebration. During three years as Northwestern's men's basketball coach (1972-73 and 1979-81), the Raiders went 57-25 (.695), holding the second-highest winning percentage in Red Raider men's basketball coaching history. Boerigter served Northwestern for a total of eight years in the 1970s and early 1980s, including roles as assistant professor, athletic director, and as a coach for baseball, basketball, cross country, football and golf.

Following his time at Northwestern, Boerigter co-founded the Great Plains Athletic Conference and served as director of athletics at Whitworth College (Wash.), Adams State University (Colo.), Hastings College (Neb.), and Northwest Missouri State University. From 2010 to 2017, he served as the commissioner of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, an NCAA Division II conference. He received the D2 Athletic Directors Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.

Boerigter will be honored alongside seven other inductees at the 59th Annual NACDA & Affiliates Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, June 10.
