The home Chargers struck first, sending a run across on a sacrifice fly in the opening frame to take an early 1-0 lead.

Northwestern responded in the visitors' half of the second, scoring three runs to move ahead for the first time. After three-straight walks loaded the bases, Ashtyn Billings reached to tie the game at 1-1. In the next at-bat, Gwen Mikkelsen walked home a run, while Kameryn Etherington hit a sacrifice fly to right to push the lead to 3-1.

A two-out triple from Briar Cliff tied the game back up in the bottom of the second, as the Chargers regained the lead on an RBI single. They later loaded the bases in the fourth, using a shallow RBI double to add two runs.

Northwestern put another run on the board in the sixth as Randi Childress hit her second career home run in the sixth, but the Raiders left a runner on in the seventh, falling 6-4.

How It Happened
The ball was flying out of the park in game two as three home runs were hit, with two by Northwestern, in a 13-5 Red Raider win.

The Raiders moved ahead 2-0 to start the contest, scoring on a Maddie Kvatek RBI single in the first before Tatum Schmalbeck drove in a run on a double in the second.

Briar Cliff responded in the middle innings, cutting their deficit in half with an RBI single, setting up a three-run home run to close out the third with a 4-2 lead.

Needing a comeback to avoid the sweep, Northwestern scored 10 runs in the fourth to go up 12-5. It all started with a leadoff single by Charli Bomgaars, right before Jori Hajek tripled to right field to move the Raiders closer. After Gwen Mikkelsen drove Hajek in on the next play, Northwestern tied the game on an error.

The Raiders took the lead for the second time in the game with Randi Childress driving in a run with runners at the corners, making it 6-5. In her first series back from injury, Ravyn Krachey entered in a pinch hitting spot, driving a home run to center to make the score 9-5. After batting around the order, Hajek came to the plate again, once again sending the ball to right, this time for a three-run home run.

Northwestern added a run in the sixth on Abby Pate's double to enact the eight-run rule.

Game Notes:
Up Next: The Raiders will head to Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday with the regular season conference title on the line, meeting the Midland Warriors at 1:00 p.m.
