Men’s Track and Field Competes at Mount Marty Twilight

YANKTON, S.D. – The men's track and field team would head to Yankton for a tune up meet and their last chance to qualify for the GPAC Championship. Multiple Raiders would hit PRs and squeak their way into the qualifying list for conference.

Sprints/Hurdles/Relays:
One of the first events on the track would be the 100m dash where Tyreece Wynne led the Raiders in a PR time of 10.81 in his 6^th place finish. Carter Van Donge also hit a PR with his time of 11.06, followed by Karson Geiseke in a PR of 11.71. Later in the 200, Aziah Ashley would lead the Raiders in his PR time of 22.37 to finish in 8^th place. He would be followed by Van Donge in 9^th at 22.43 for another PR, and Gieseke for another PR in 23.78, and Isaac Ferguson in another PR of 24.07. The 400m hurdles was the only hurdle event contested with Gunner Vargas hitting a lifetime PR of 59.14 in his 5^th place finish, followed by Reese Van Zee in 7^th in 59.50. The 4x100m relay would get 2^nd place in a time of 41.09 for their second fastest time this season. The quad of runners being made up of Braden Kalvelage, Vance Hayenga-Johnson, Braden Jahn and Ashton Sandbulte.

Distance:
In the 800m run, Carson Engbers would be the lone PR, coming across in 2:07.41. in the 5000m run, Brayden Dirks came across in 7^th place only 3 seconds off his PR. Ashton Hughes was right on his tail finishing in 8^th in a PR of 16:48.23. Braeden Brough finishing in 9^th, would miss his PR by .04 running 16:52.51 with a PR of 16:52.47. Sam Harrison crossing the line in a PR of 17:19.26, would just barely beat out Jacob Shaffer, who was on his way to his own PR run, now down to 17:25.87. The longest distance race of the day was the 3000m steeplechase where a brave David Bernhagen would attempt the race and finish 2^nd in his first ever race. His time would also be good enough to qualify him for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships.

Throws:
The throwing events would see the same personal successes as the running events. Jacob Folkerts would hit a lifetime PR in the men's shot put on his 5^th throw, out to 13.08m or 42' 11" to finish 7^th place. Folkerts would also have a PR in the men's discus out to 39.81m or 130' 7". Senior Garrick Davis would end his career on a PR throw of 34.64m, as would fellow Senior thrower Nathan Mather, our to 26.87m.
