How It Happened
Hastings gave Northwestern it's all in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, but the Raiders prevailed 4-2 on the road.

Northwestern scored first, putting up a run in the opening inning. Gwen Mikkelsen reached to lead off the game, and Tatum Schmalbeck followed with a two-out base knock to bring Mikkelsen in from second and make it a 1-0 ballgame.

The Raiders extended their lead in the fourth, moving ahead 2-0 when Maddie Kvatek drove in the first of her two RBIs with two away.

Hastings cut the deficit in half in the fourth, scoring their first run on a sacrifice fly and making it 2-1.

With the game remaining close through the middle innings, Northwestern added a run in the sixth as Kvatek drove in another run, doubling home Jori Hajek. Hastings responded again in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases to set up a potential big inning. The Broncos scratched a run across, but Kate Kralik came in to limit the damage and get out of the jam.

Kameryn Etherington hit her second home run of the weekend in the top of the seventh, securing the Raiders' 4-2 win.
