Raiders Slide Past Jimmies; Remain Tied for First in GPAC

Van Kalsbeek drops 27 points, three others in double-figures

JAMESTOWN, N.D. –  The No. 12-ranked Northwestern men's basketball team (18-5, 11-4 GPAC) won at Jamestown for the first time since the 2020-21 season, led by a 27-point effort for Alex Van Kalsbeek at the Harold Newman Arena.

"We didn't finish the game like we would have liked, but every win on the road in the GPAC is a great win," said head coach Kris Korver. "We're going to celebrate the fact that we went on the road to Jamestown and the bus ride home will be better having figured out a way to win. It was a good team win."

Jamestown jumped out to an early lead, building up a 12-6 advantage through the opening five minutes. While the Raider deficit held for a time, Northwestern worked their way back to a tie with back-to-back buckets for Marcus Kelderman. The three-point barrage continued as both teams traded shots from beyond the arc to a 28-27 Northwestern advantage. The Raiders went ahead by as many as nine on a Kaleb Booth three before Jamestown inched back and hit a shot before the horn, cutting Northwestern's lead to 48-46 at halftime.

After Jamestown took a 53-52 lead in the first two minutes of the second half, Alex Van Kalsbeek sparked a 12-3 run that put Northwestern back in front, 68-56. No lead in safe in the GPAC, however, as an eventual 14-point lead was erased in the span of four minutes, bringing Jamestown as close as 85-82 with one minute to play. With the Jimmies having the ball in their possession in the final moments, a Silas Bennion three-point attempt was off the mark and Keyton Moser sealed the game with a 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
