This Week in Raider Athletics: February 5-10

ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Northwestern continues GPAC play in basketball, closes the regular season in wrestling, and opens the year in baseball, among other sports this week.

Wednesday, February 7
Wrestling at Waldorf

The Raiders will meet Waldorf on Wednesday in their final dual of the regular season.
Northwestern wrestled the Warriors in an exhibition Saturday at the Raider Duals.
In their lone countable dual on Saturday, the Raiders fell 32-15 to Dickinson State (N.D.).

Women's Basketball at Jamestown

Northwestern and Jamestown will face off for the final time as a GPAC regular season matchup as Jamestown gets set to join the NSAA.
The Raiders fell to No. 6 Concordia (Neb.) on Saturday.
Molly Schany leads the team in scoring (16.7), rebounding (8.0), and field goal percentage (61.0%), also sitting second in the GPAC in points and rebounds.

The Raiders enter the week in a five-way tie for first in the GPAC, holding a record of 17-5 (10-4 GPAC).
Last time out, Northwestern was stopped on their last possession, losing 84-81 to Concordia (Neb.).
Craig Sterk became the 12th player in Northwestern history to score 1,800 career points, adding 15 on Saturday.

Friday, February 9
Track and Field at Mount Marty Last Chance/SDSU Indoor Classic

Northwestern will run a split squad this weekend, competing at the Mount Marty Last Chance Meet and the SDSU Indoor Classic.
The Raiders are one week away from traveling back to Yankton for the 2024 GPAC Indoor Championships.
Emma Blum was the top performer last weekend, winning the 200m and 400m at the DWU Alumni Meet.

Softball vs. Baker (Kan.) (Doubleheader)

Northwestern opened its season 3-0, sweeping the competition in their first weekend at the American State Bank Sports Complex.
The Raiders meet the No. 11-ranked Baker (Kan.) Wildcats for a top-15 NAIA matchup.
Gwen Mikkelsen led the way with a .455 batting average last weekend, while Ravyn Krachey hit .400 with a home run and two triples.

The Red Raider baseball team opens its season in Kansas in a three-game series with the Friends (Kan.) Falcons.
Sam Stanford and Mason Porepp return to lead the batting order with their .337 and .318 batting averages, respectively, from 2023.
Dylan Kirkeby is the name to watch on the mound, as the First Team All-GPAC pitcher returns for his fifth season.

Women's Tennis at Minnesota Morris

Northwestern's women's tennis team will take the court for the third time this spring.
The Raiders are 1-1 this spring, defeating Buena Vista and falling to (RV) Morningside.
Olya Furmanova and Ainslie Robinson lead the way with two singles wins each.

Competitive dance will perform for the first time this season at the York Crown Classic.
It will be the first of two days of meets for the dance team, who will be at the Concordia Day of Duals on Saturday.

The Raider cheer team placed second two weeks ago at the Doane Invitational.
