How It Happened
Both Kameryn Etherington and Chloe Gallegos drove in two runs as No. 15 Northwestern took down Valley City State in the morning matchup.

Valley City State got on the board first in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded, the Vikings scored on an error to make it 0-1.

In the bottom half of the first, Chloe Gallegos helped secure the first Raider lead after she doubled to right field. Etherington and Ashtyn Billings came around to score to make it 2-1 after the first frame.

The back-and-forth affair continued into the top of the second when the Vikings tied it up thanks to a solo home run to center field.

The game would remain locked at 2 until the Raiders broke the game open with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Northwestern scratched their first runner across after pinch runner Jewell Bergstrom scored on an error. Then, Kameryn Etherington secured two more insurance runs on an RBI single that plated Billings and Charli Bomgaars.

Pitcher Kate Kralik shut out the Vikings the rest of the way to secure a 5-2 win for the Raiders.
