Forest City, Iowa. – Northwestern tried out a new starting lineup against Waldorf and got themselves back in the win column with an 88-54 victory.
It was a slow start in the first quarter, but the Raiders gained control early. Coach Rotert decided to mix up the starting lineup by placing Allison Piercy and Ashtyn Wobig in the starting five. Piercy made an impact in the first quarter with 2 threes and 5 rebounds. Molly Schany also stuffed the stat sheet with 7 points and 2 rebounds. It was 19-11 after the first quarter.
The game broke open in the second quarter as the Raiders poured in 30 points. Hali Anderson showed out in the second quarter with 10 points and 4 steals. Schany continued her scoring fun with 7 more points and went 5-5 from the charity stripe. At the half it was 49-23.
Things started to settle down in the second half as Coach Rotert was getting experimental with a wide variety of lineups on the floor. In her 19th minute on the floor, Hali Anderson recorded her 8th steal of the game which puts her in a five-way tie for the most steals in the game.
Northwestern cruised their way to the final buzzer and the scoreboard read 88-54 in favor of the Raiders.
The win moves the Raiders to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in GPAC action, good for second place.
