Second-Half Push Guides Raiders to Home Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The No. 7-ranked Northwestern men's basketball team pulled away early in the second half to pick up a home win, moving their record to 12-0 (6-0 GPAC). It was the Raiders' most efficient shooting performance of the season, making 64% of their shots.

The first half was marked by a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging leads multiple times. The Raiders took an early lead with a nine-point margin at 3:16, largely due to strong performances in the paint, scoring 20 points there by the end of the half. A key moment came when Jesse Van Kalsbeek executed a steal and a fast-break dunk, contributing to the team's momentum. Despite the Tigers' efforts, including a three-pointer from Brady Timm, the Raiders maintained their advantage, leading 40-34 at the end of the half.

The Red Raiders extended their lead in the second half, capitalizing on several scoring runs and defensive plays. Early in the half, Alex Van Kalsbeek contributed with four consecutive free throws, helping the Raiders build momentum. Jesse Van Kalsbeek added to this with a layup and a free throw, while Jalen Langsy's three-pointer at 14:30 pushed the home team's score to 52 points. The Raiders continued to dominate with a consistent offensive effort, including a late 8-0 run capped by a Marcus Kelderman dunk on a fast break with 1:22 remaining, leading to a 48-30 advantage for the half and an 88-64 win.
