Orange City, Iowa. – It was a slow start for the Northwestern Women's Basketball team on Friday evening, but after some halftime adjustments the Raiders reclaimed the lead and cruised to victory.
It was a less-than-ideal start for the Raiders in the first quarter. The team shot 5-19 from the field and 2-7 from three and struggled from the free throw line shooting 2-6. The Raiders also got outrebounded 14 to 8 and trailed 20-14 after the first 10 minutes.
The second quarter featured continued offensive struggles but significantly improved defense. The Raiders held the Bobcats to 4-19 shooting and only 9 points. Going into the break, the Raiders trailed 29-26.
The game completely changed in the third quarter, and there was one big reason. Her name is Molly Schany. She was responsible for 17 of the Raiders' 28 third quarter points. Northwestern's defense remained rock solid by only allowing 11 points from their opponents. They led 54-40 going into the fourth quarter.
The last quarter did not bring much excitement as the Raiders remained steady throughout the fourth quarter to hold onto the 71-63 victory.
