Raiders Advance to Final Site with Opening Round Sweep

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern defeated Dillard (La.) in straight sets, 3-0, on Saturday at the Bultman Center in the Opening Round of the NAIA tournament. The victory marked Northwestern's 23rd sweep of the season.

"I thought we played pretty clean throughout the whole match," head coach Kyle Van Den Bosch said. "We put a lot of pressure on the opponent with our serving."

NWC 3, DILLARD 0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-14)
How It Happened
Northwestern opened the first set with a quick kill by Jazlin Douma, but Dillard responded with a two-point streak, taking an early 3-1 lead. The Raiders then gained momentum with Sidney Oostra serving, scoring seven consecutive points, including two kills by Douma and a service ace, to bring the score to 10-3. Following a timeout by Dillard, the Red Raiders maintained control, with Liv Reitsma contributing multiple assists, enabling her team to extend their lead. Despite a few successful kills from Dillard's Vanae Sapp and Sara Da Silva, Northwestern closed the set at 25-13.

In the second set, the Raiders demonstrated a strong performance against the Bleu Devils, securing a 25-12 victory. They opened the set with a series of successful plays, including a kill by Emma Westphal and a block-induced attack error, quickly advancing to a 3-0 lead. Logan Miller contributed significantly with back-to-back service aces, extending the lead to 7-1. Dillard managed to interrupt the Raiders' scoring streaks with kills from Vanae Sapp and Cadence Thomas, but Northwestern's consistent offense, highlighted by multiple contributions from Douma, maintained their advantage. Miller's service aces continued to be a key factor, helping the Raiders to clinch the set decisively.

In the third set, the Raiders opened with a strong start, taking an early lead with a series of errors by Dillard, including four consecutive attack errors. Dillard managed a brief rally, narrowing the gap to 6-5 with a service ace by Jasmyne Mumphrey, but the Raiders responded with another run, extending their lead to 18-10 with the help of two service aces from Douma. After the Raiders forced a Dillard timeout, they maintained control and closed the set with a service ace by Stella Winterfeld, securing a 25-14 win.
