Anderson's Triple Double Leads Raiders Back Into the Win Column

Orange City, Iowa - Northwestern College defeated Midland University 74-63 on Saturday at the Bultman Center.

In the first quarter of the game between the Red Raiders and the Warriors, both teams were evenly matched, ending the quarter tied at 15. The Raiders established an early lead with a 3-pointer from Lexie Van Kekerix, making the score 5-2. The Warriors responded with a series of layups, taking brief leads. Both teams were efficient in the paint, with 10 points for the Raiders and 6 for the Warriors. The quarter featured several turnovers and defensive stops, with the Raiders recording two blocks and the Warriors securing eight defensive rebounds. The quarter concluded with a balanced score, highlighting a competitive start to the game.

The second quarter saw the Warriors outscore the Raiders 17-13, extending their lead. The Warriors' Ellie Bovaird started the quarter with two successful free throws, pushing their early advantage. The Raiders responded with several offensive rebounds but struggled with shooting accuracy, missing multiple shots. The Warriors' Jenna Weber was key in maintaining their lead by scoring a 3-pointer and a fast-break layup, contributing significantly to their offensive efforts. Despite the Raiders' attempts to close the gap with strong rebounding, the Warriors' consistent scoring, including a notable 3-pointer from Grace Holm, allowed them to retain the upper hand by the end of the quarter.

In the third quarter, the Raiders outscored the Warriors 27-21, overcoming an early deficit. Molly Schany of the Raiders was instrumental, scoring multiple times and securing several defensive rebounds, including a key jumper at 9:39 that tied the game at 32-32. The Raiders' defense was strong, with Hali Anderson contributing with defensive rebounds and assists, helping her team to a five-point lead with 5:55 remaining. The Warriors kept the contest close, with Ellie Bovaird hitting a crucial 3-pointer and Sarah Shepard making two free throws, but the Raiders maintained their lead through effective scoring in the paint.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders extended their lead over the Warriors with strong offensive play, outscoring their opponents 19-10.
