Raiders Extinguish Flames in Straight Sets

OMAHA, Neb. – Northwestern continued its winning streak on Friday, improving to 21-0 with a sweep of College of Saint Mary.

How It Happened
A 7-0 run in the middle of the first set put the Raiders ahead 13-7, but the Flames held close, coming back within a point at 19-18. Northwestern then rattled off four straight points on Liv Reitsma's serve, with help from the blocking duo of Zavyr Metzger and Emma Westphal, on their way to a 25-19 win.

Scoring runs were an important piece of the Raiders' success in set two as well, scoring on three consecutive points on separate occasions to build up an insurmountable lead. The final push from Northwestern came when Alysen Dexter picked up a kill and a block to make it 21-14, matching their largest lead of the night.

With a sweep in their sights, the Raiders faced a challenge from the Flames, who tied the third set at 14-14 on the kill. Northwestern then grabbed the next four points to take an 18-14 lead on Jazlin Douma's serve, putting them ahead for good in their 15th sweep of the year.
