Ashley and Gleason Winners at Concordia Polar Dog

Ashley wins 400m and Gleason triple jump

SEWARD, Neb. – The snow storm last week may have canceled the meet, but the men hunkered down and were prepared for the Friday evening meet. The team combined for 20 PRs, and by the time the meet was done, the men claimed two event titles. Aziah Ashley won the 400m dash and Justin Gleason won the triple jump.
 
Sprints
Tyreece Wynee led the men though the 60m dash in a PR time of 7.05 for fifth place overall. Ashton Sandbulte scratched the top 10 with a 7.14 for 10th place. The 60m hurdles saw AJ Bomgaars finish 10th with a time of 8.94. On to the 200, Vance Hayenga-Johnson led the men, finishing in 10th place with an indoor best time of 23.36. Through the 400m, Aziah Ashley led and eventually win the meet with an indoor PR time of 51.40. The final event of the 4x400m had Reese Van Zee, Trey Engelmann, AJ Bomgaars, and Gunner Vargas finish 7th overall with a time of 3:37.06.
 
Jumps
Starting with the horizontal jumps, in the Triple Jump, Gleason jumped 13.95m or 45' 9.25" for the event win. Just behind would be Liam Raymon following in 4th place with a final jump of 12.45m. Three men finished in the top 10 of the long jump. Ben Thelander placed fifth, followed by Will Bunn in sixth, only .03m behind Thelander. Hayenga-Johnson followed up his 200m performance with a 9th place finish here as well. Over to the high jump apron, all three men finished in the top 10. Coltin Vargas tied his jump height from the last meet of 1.82m, and finish 10th. Donovan Elmore jumped a PR of 1.82 as well and finished in 9th, beating Vargas on less misses. Drew Geetings jumped a PR as well of 1.87m or 6'1.5" and took 6th overall.
 
Distance
In the 800m, Trey Engelmann finished in a battled race of 2nd place, coming across in 2:021.39. The 5000m run later in the day saw Ben VanDeBerg finish 3rd in a PR time of 15:56.69. Although out of the top 10, Brayden Dirks and Braden Brough both ran PR times as well.
