Three Raiders Reach Double Figures in Home Win

Anderson leads with 19 points, TerWee notches another double-double

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The (RV) Northwestern women's basketball team (11-5, 7-3 GPAC) returned to the Bultman Center on Wednesday night, picking up a 20-point conference win over Midland (4-12, 1-9 GPAC), led by a 19-point outing for Hali Anderson.

"It was a good win to kick off a big week for us," commented head coach Kristin Rotert. "After a slow start, we were able to separate ourselves in the third quarter with a healthy balance of transition plays and half court execution. Our defense worked hard all game to limit Midland on the offensive end and force them into tough shots. We got a big boost from numerous individuals on our bench tonight, and that made a significant impact for us."

The first quarter saw both teams feeling out the tempo as the opening five minutes came and went with the score 7-7. Northwestern then went on a 12-4 run over the next four minutes, finished off with a Kaydin Davis fastbreak layup off the feed from Lexie Van Kekerix to make it 19-11. Anderson put the quarter's final bucket through with less than a minute to go to give the Raiders a 21-13 advantage after one.

Northwestern's lead reached double digits for the first time early in the second as Anderson got a steal-and-score to make it 24-13, while Midland fought back within five points at the three-minute mark.

Midland continued to keep matters interesting as the third quarter rolled along, cutting the deficit to 36-33 with 6:14 remaining. The Raiders answered with a 7-0 run that ended with a Kylie Foss triple, bringing their lead back to 10 points. Northwestern ended the period scoring 17 of 21 points in six minutes to take a comfortable 53-37 lead into the fourth.

An early attack in the fourth extended Northwestern's lead to as many as 23 points, their largest lead of the game, before playing out the final eight minutes for their seventh GPAC win.
