USF Outlasts Northwestern in Non-Conference Match

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – In their second appearance of the fall, the Northwestern women's tennis team (0-2, 0-0 GPAC) hosted Sioux Falls (S.D.) (1-0, 0-0 NSIC), dropping a 5-2 decision under the lights.

Sioux Falls swept the doubles bouts, though the duos of Julia Kutz (Jr., Sheridan, Wyo.)/Julia Anderson (Jr., Rapid City, S.D.) and Olya Furmanova (So., Minsk, Belarus)/Madalyn Kolb (Fr., Ankeny, Iowa) fell by only two games, 6-4 and 7-5, respectively.

The Raiders took two points in the singles, as Furmanova and Ainslie Robinson (Jr., Luverne, Minn.) each picked up their first singles wins of the year, both winning in two sets. Anderson and Kutz each played close matches in their singles outings, falling in 10-point tiebreakers that solidified the win for the Cougars.

Up Next: Northwestern will close out their fall schedule at home against Mount Marty in a non-conference match on Monday, October 2 at 3:00 p.m.
