Scoring Outburst Propels Men's Soccer Past Union

Three Raiders with two-goal efforts

ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – Three Raiders scored twice as Northwestern (3-1-0, 0-0-0 GPAC) won their second match of the weekend, a 13-0 decision over Union (Neb.) (1-2).

The Raiders scored early and often, starting with a pair of goals by Stan van den Beld (Jr., Voorhout, Netherlands) to give his squad a 2-0 advantage. One minute later, Riley Aarbo (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) increased the Northwestern advantage to three goals.

Northwestern went on to score four more in the first half, including two from Gerrard Uamai (Jr., Dundalk, Ireland) to take a 7-0 lead into the break.

The second half was highlighted by the newcomers, as first-year Red Raiders Kay Thomas (Fr., London, England), Tark Griebel (Fr., Sioux Falls, S.D.), and Barkan Kiliç (Sr., Braunschweig, Germany) each found the back of the net ahead of Northwestern's largest win since October 4, 2016 (15-0 at Mount Marty).

MATCH NOTES
  • 10 different Raiders scored in the win.
  • Senior Alec Coronado (Panama City, Panama) converted on a penalty kick for his first-career goal.
  • Nikko Helderop (Jr., Bismarck, N.D.), Stan van den Beld, and Gerrard Uamai each scored two goals, marking career-highs.
