GPAC Women's Cross Country Poll Released

Northwestern picked to finish fourth

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Following a 2022 campaign that saw Northwestern's women's cross country team finish fourth in the conference, the Raider women received a fourth-place spot in the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Preseason Poll.
Northwestern will compete in a five-race schedule culminating with the GPAC Championships, set to be held at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve on November 4 in North Sioux City, South Dakota.

Defending champion Dordt was picked first in the poll, while Concordia, Hastings, and Northwestern rounded out the top-four.

The Raider women will return 11 runners from a team that placed fourth at the 2022 GPAC Championships. Among returners will be National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Championships qualifiers Emily Haverdink (So., Orange City, Iowa) and Caitlin Alberts (Jr., Sully, Iowa). Haverdink concluded a stellar debut season with a second-place, All-Conference finish at the GPAC Championships.

 Northwestern will open their season at the Augustana Twilight on Friday, September 1. The meet will be held at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. beginning at 8:30 p.m.
