DeGroot and Spencer Finish Ahead of Rankings at NAIA Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Emily DeGroot and Kayden Spencer competed early Friday morning at the NAIA Championships, hosted at Apalachee Regional Park.

"Our Raiders competed hard today," noted head coach Scott Bahrke. "The ladies moved well in the race and both finished ahead of their rankings."

DeGroot, ranked 186^th coming in, ran a time of 23:02.9 to finish in the top half of the field at 119. She ran her best 1K split in the third kilometer, posting a split of 3:18.8.

In her NAIA Championships debut, Spencer placed 202^nd, ahead of her 247^th ranking, running a time of 23:53.4. In the final 1K, Spencer moved up 12 spots and improved her split by over six seconds.

Taylor sophomore Jaynie Halterman broke her own meet record with a time of 20:13.2 and led her team to a national title with 90 points.
