Raiders Win Comfortably at Mount Marty

YANKTON, S.D. – Continuing their road trip to open Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) season, Northwestern (7-7, 2-1 GPAC) picked up a 6-1 win on Monday afternoon at Mount Marty (0-7, 0-3 GPAC).

Once Julia Kutz (So., Sheridan, Wyo.) started the No. 2 singles slot with a 6-1, 6-0 win, the Raiders were untouchable. The next two singles matches saw wins for Julia Anderson (So., Rapid City, S.D.) and Wynne Vandersall (Sr., Martelle, Iowa). In the singles wins, Raider athletes only fell in two games, with Vandersall sweeping her two-set victory 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles pair of Anderson and Kutz won a close 6-4 set in the No. 1 slot, while the No. 2 team of Vandersall and Olya Furmanova (Fr., Minsk, Belarus) capped off the dominant team win with a 6-2 victory.

Northwestern has now won their last two and four of the last five matches.

Up Next: The Raiders will have an extended break before taking on Midland at home on Friday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m.
