Northwestern Picks Up GPAC Victory in South Dakota Over Lancers

YANKTON, S.D. – The Northwestern College men's tennis team (9-6, 2-1 GPAC) played their third match in four days with another Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) match, hitting the road for South Dakota to battle the Lancers of Mount Marty University (1-8, 0-2 GPAC), downing the Lancers 4-3 for their second league win of the season.
The Red Raiders got off to a fast start in South Dakota tonight, winning all three doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead into singles play.

Heading into singles play, Mount Marty pulled even and then ahead winning the first two clashes at No. 1 and No. 2. Leandro Costa (Fr., Caratinga, Brazil) would put momentum firmly back to the Raider side with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Marcos Moreno.

Arthur Vincente (Fr., Sao Paulo, Brazil), at No. 4, would give the Red Raiders a slim 3-2 advantage after his dominant 6-0, 6-4 win.

Coming down to the final two matches of the night, it would be Noah Roisum (Jr., Rapid City, S.D.) who would clinch the Red Raider victory at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Zach Gonsor.

Up Next: The Raiders will host their first GPAC tennis match of the season next Friday, April 14, when the Warriors of Midland University (9-7, 1-0 GPAC) come to Orange City with first serve slated for 5:00 p.m. from the NWC Tennis Courts.
