Northwestern Drops 4-3 Decision in Regular Season Finale

FREMONT, Neb. –  In Saturday's regular season finale, the Northwestern women's tennis team (8-10, 3-4 GPAC) fell to Concordia (Neb.) (12-8, 4-3 GPAC) as the doubles point proved to be the difference.

The Raiders and Bulldogs split the singles points, as Olya Furmanova (Fr., Minsk, Belarus) won the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-3 to give Northwestern its first team point. Wynne Vandersall (Sr., Martelle, Iowa) and Ainslie Robinson (So., Luverne, Minn.) also won their singles matches, with Robinson taking a three-set decision and Vandersall winning 6-0, 7-5.

Doubles matches opened the day but also decided the winner as Concordia won in the first two slots and the Raider doubles team of Robinson and Hannah Beckloff (Fr., Rapid City, S.D.) picked up a 6-1 victory.

Up Next: The Raiders will take part in the two-day GPAC tournament next weekend, April 28 and 29. This year's conference tournament will be held in Fremont, Nebraska. More information on opponents and start times will be available next week on the women's tennis schedule page.
