Four Wrestlers Recognized as NAIA Scholar Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2022-23 Daktronics NAIA Men's Wrestling Scholar-Athletes, with four Red Raider student-athletes receiving the honor.

To be recognized as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete is nominated by the institution's head coach or sports information director with the criteria of maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.5, appearing on the eligibility ticket of the sport, and attending the institution for at least one full year.

Northwestern wrestling student-athletes Samuel Copley (Sr., Denton, Neb.), Jake Francksen-Small (So., Merrill, Iowa), Manuel Jaramillo (Sr., Selma, Calif.), and Luke Jenness (Sr., Primghar, Iowa) were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for their academic achievements.

For Copley, Jaramillo, and Jenness, it is their third-career honor, while Francksen-Small earned the honor for the second time.

Grand View (Iowa) led the way for most scholar-athletes in the NAIA with 14.

A full list of the 2022-23 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes is linked at the top of the story. Over 200 student-athletes were recognized from 58 schools nationwide.
