Women's Tennis Falls Just Short Against Iowa Central

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern College women's tennis team (1-4, 0-0 GPAC) dropped a close match to the Iowa Central Community College Tritons Saturday evening in Sioux City.
 
The Tritons took the first two doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2, before the Raider duo of Hannah Beckloff (So., Rapid City, S.D.) and Grace Twelmeyer (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa) won 6-4 at the No. 3 doubles slot.
 
Olya Furmanova (Minsk, Belarus) got the Raiders started in the singles portion of the match, winning at No. 1 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Tritons would pick up wins at No. 2-4 to secure the match, after picking up the team point in the doubles matches.
 
For the Raiders, they would pick up wins at No. 5 and No. 6. The duo who picked up wins as doubles partners would also secure wins in the single portion. Beckloff would pick up the 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5, while Twelmeyer would secure a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6. ICCC would take the match 4-3

Up Next: Northwestern will battle a pair of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III foes in Wartburg College and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse next Saturday, February 18 in Owatonna, Minn.
