Northwestern Wrestlers Compete at Grand View Open

Hildebrand and Meyer compile three wins each

DES MOINES, Iowa – A full day of wrestling saw a trio Red Raiders collect three wins each, as Jaxson Hildebrand and Haggen Meyer each won three bouts on Saturday.

Hildebrand (Fr., Denison, Iowa) continued his successful run on the mat in the Freshman/Sophomore 285 class, advancing to the fifth consolation round. In his first two wins, he used an impressive 16-0 tech fall performance in a win over St. Ambrose's Razzak before pinning Graceland's Sauceda. His third win of the day came against fellow Raider Logan Ash, who battled before Hildebrand won via fall in 4:39.

In the Open 174, Meyer (Jr., Johnston, Iowa) competed for the first time this season, winning three matches and advancing to the fourth consolation round. Meyer began the day with a 17-0 technical fall, while winning two additional bouts on a 14-8 decision and a medical forfeit.

Other Raiders with multiple wins on the day included Gabe Cauthron (Fr., Spencer, Iowa), Logan Schroeder (So., Pella, Iowa), Noah Parmelee (So., Sioux City, Iowa), Thomas Vance (Fr., Pleasant Dale, Neb.), Jake Francksen-Small (Sr., Merrill, Iowa), and Kaleb Lind (Jr., Lindenhurst, Ill.).
