Raiders Fall on the Road at Midland

Marissa Talamantes tallies first-career goal

FREMONT, Neb. – The Northwestern College women's soccer team (4-9, 2-6 GPAC) fell on the road Saturday night, 4-1, to the Midland University Warriors (7-4-2, 4-2-1 GPAC). Freshman Marissa Talamantes scored her first career goal in the second half.
 
Midland scored four goals in the first half to take the comfortable lead into the halftime break. The game-winning goal proved to be in the 17th minute by Hanna Schimmer.
 
The Red Raiders worked to chip their way back into it in the second half, but it proved to be too big of a mountain to overcome. Talamantes (Fr., Marshall, Minn.) scored her first-career goal in the 67th minute to cut it to 4-1.
 
Nearly 20 minutes later in the 82nd minute, senior Julie Dunlap (Des Moines, Iowa) found the back of the net for the fifth time this season, adding to hear team-leading goal mark. The goal came on a penalty kick attempt.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • Midland held the 21-14 shot advantage on the match, NWC having 10 in the second half.
  • The Warriors had seven corners to Northwestern's three.
