Red Raiders Welcome Mount Marty for Homecoming Clash

Kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Korver Field

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The No. 4-ranked Northwestern College football team (3-1, 3-1 GPAC) is set to welcome the Mount Marty Lancers (2-2, 1-2 GPAC) to Korver Field for the first-time ever on Homecoming Weekend on the campus of Northwestern College. It will be the second-ever meeting between the two teams with kickoff slated for 1:30 p.m. from Korver Field at De Valois Stadium.

  • NWC remains at No. 4 for the third-straight week in the NAIA; bringing the streak up to 17 polls.
  • The Raiders are one of six NAIA teams to average north of 200 yards in both passing and rushing per game.
  • With the contest last week, Northwestern bumps their total yards per game over the 500-mark (502.3).
  • Northwestern is 19-3 under Matt McCarty in the month of October and undefeated since 2019 (11-0).  
  • Blake Fryar remains two touchdown passes away from cracking the program's top-10 career touchdown list and tying Galen Kaemingk (1975-79) who threw for 40 career touchdowns.
  • Michael Storey passed the 200-yard park for the season (18 rec., 253 yds.).

  • Offensive lineman Jawan Grant and his block against Concordia (Neb.) last week is receiving national attention.
  • His block was featured on ESPN's morning show 'Get Up' as THE tackle of the day in their 'Sat 'em Down' segment.
HOME SWEET HOMECOMING
  • The Raiders are 26-9 (.743) under McCarty on Korver Field at De Valois Stadium.
  • In the 2020 season, the Raiders were a perfect 6-0 at home.
  • With the two home games under the belt in 2022, NWC sits 2-0.
  • Since McCarty took over head coaching duties in 2016, the Raiders are 4-1 (no Homecoming game in 2020) in Homecoming contests.
  • In those five previous contests, the Raiders have outscored opponents 179-95; including the shutout of Doane last season (38-0).
 HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS
  • Northwestern College is set to induct three new members to the NWC Hall of Fame in Tom Eaton (wrestling), Kaitlin Floerchinger (volleyball), and Matt Huseman (track and field).
  • Wade Vander Maten will be recognized as the Coach of the Year (head boys basketball coach at Rock Valley High School).
  • Assistant football coach – offensive line – Levi Letsche will be honored as the 2022 Barnabas Award winner.

RAIDER OFFENSE ROLLIN'
  • NWC is 56-2 since 2010 when the team rushes for 200+ yards.
  • Northwestern are one of four teams in the nation to average 500+ yards of offense.
  • The Raiders put up 285 rushing yards in the win against Concordia: 515 yards of total offense.
  • Three of NWC's offensive categories sit top-20 in the NAIA under first-year OC Jake Menage – yards per game (502.3, 4th), rushing (246.3, 6th), and points per game (41.3, 11th).
GPAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Jalyn Gramstad lands the team's second-straight GPAC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
  • He notched new career-highs in passing yards (179), rushing yards (177), and rushing touchdowns (4).
  • He threw his first-career touchdown pass to Michael Storey in the fourth quarter.
RECAPPING CONCORDIA
  • The Red Raiders notched 500+ offensive yards for the third-straight week.
  • Jalyn Gramstad's five total touchdowns led the Raider offense in the win with 34 unanswered second half points.
  • Parker Fryar's 16 tackles led all tacklers, and was the only athlete in double digits. He leads the NWC defense with 43 tackles.
LAST MEETING VS. MOUNT MARTY
  • NWC won 56-17 in Yankton a season ago behind 354 yards and four TDs from Fryar in the win.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Red Raiders and the Lancers will meet for the just the second time on Saturday.
  • Under head coach Matt McCarty, NWC is 1-0 against Mount Marty.
