Northwestern Sits at No. 4 Entering Homecoming Weekend

Raiders to host Mount Marty for the first-time in program history

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Despite the first half scare against Concordia, the Northwestern College football team (3-1, 3-1 GPAC) holds at No. 4 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Poll 3 thanks to the five unanswered touchdowns to down the Bulldogs, 34-10, in the second half, the national office announced this afternoon.

Holding steady at No. 4 continues the streak of being ranked inside the NAIA top-5, making it now 17 straight weeks the Red Raiders have been inside the top-5. The streak dates back to the Postseason poll of the 2020 season back on May 17, 2021.

For the third-straight week, the Red Raiders notched 500+ yards of total offense, ultimately taking care of Concordia (Neb.) on the home turf, allowing just 10 Bulldog points. On the season, Northwestern has allowed just 12.5 points per game which sits 13th in the NAIA.

A balanced attack on the offensive side of the ball has led to Northwestern being one of six NAIA teams to average north of 200 yards passing and rushing yard per game. Their 502.3 total offensive yards per game sits fourth nationally, one of four NAIA squads to average 500+ yards per contest.

Once again, the top-5 saw no changes this week. Around the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), Midland moved up another two spots up to No. 17. Only one slight change inside the top-10 as Indiana Wesleyan and Reinhardt (Ga.) swap places at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

GPAC IN THE RANKINGS
No. 1 Morningside Mustangs (3-0, 3-0 GPAC)
No. 4 NORTHWESTERN RED RAIDERS (3-1, 3-1 GPAC)
No. 17 Midland Warriors (5-0, 4-0 GPAC)

The full top-25 list can be found at the link at the top of the story. The fourth-ranked Red Raiders are back on the home turf this weekend for Homecoming Weekend at Northwestern College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on October 1 at De Valois Stadium.
