Winning Streak Snapped at No. 19 Concordia

Sterk leads all scorers with 18 points

SEWARD, Neb.  – Searching for a road win over a ranked opponent, Northwestern (7-3, 2-2 GPAC) traveled to Seward, Nebraska to take on the No. 19-ranked Concordia (Neb.) (7-2, 4-2 GPAC) Bulldogs. Concordia used a strong first half to set the tone for the day, defeating the Raiders 81-55.

The Red Raiders jumped out to the lead to start, opening the game on a 7-2 run that saw Matt Onken (R-Jr., Marshall, Minn.) score four of the first seven for Northwestern. When, at the 10-minute mark, Concordia took a one-point advantage, they held on to the lead for the rest of the contest. The Bulldogs opened up their first double-digit lead with 2:44 remaining in the first on a pair of free throws from Tristan Smith.

Northwestern battled back to start the second half, inching as close as three points on a Dillon Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) jumper to make the score 43-40 in favor of the hosts. Carlson finished with 14 points on the day with three made three-pointers. Concordia answered with a three on the following possession to spark a 14-5 run and extend the lead to 67-45, leading by as much as 26 points to pick up a win in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play.

The loss puts an end to a four-game winning streak for the Raiders, who have five more games before the end of the calendar year.
