Raiders Drop Final Non-Conference Clash to Dakota State

Emilee Danner records 100th career block; Payton Beckman sets new career-high with 11 points

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The No. 15-ranked Northwestern College women's basketball team (10-3 5-2 GPAC) head into the Christmas break dropping their final non-conference game of the season to (RV) Dakota State University (10-4, 0-1 NSAA) Tuesday evening inside the Bultman Center, despite Emilee Danner notching her 100th career block in the contest.

Northwestern got off to a promising start, leading 6-3 but a 6-3 Dakota State run would give them their first lead and the two teams would trade buckets the rest of the quarter. The Red Raiders would hold a 16-13 advantage at the end of the first period of play.

The Trojans would hit three-straight three-pointers early in the second half as it would tie the game up at 22-22. Dakota State would take a five-point lead into the locker room at the break, thanks to hitting six three pointers in the second quarter.

A big second half propelled the visiting Trojans to extend their five-point halftime advantage into a 16-point road win. Using a 24-16 advantage in the third quarter, Dakota State would open up a 13-point lead heading into the final frame. DSU would keep the Raiders at arms length the rest of the way, prevailing 80-64 heading into the Christmas break.

Payton Beckman (Fr., Panora, Iowa) notched her first double-digit performance of her career with 11 points, hitting a team-high two three pointers in the contest.
