Carlson Nets Career-High in Loss to Doane

CRETE, Neb.  – Dillon Carlson picked up a career-high 27 points on Saturday on 7-11 from three, but Doane (3-4, 2-1 GPAC) mounted a second-half comeback to take down (RV) Northwestern (3-2, 0-1 GPAC) in overtime on Saturday.

The Red Raiders jumped out to a 16-point lead in the first ten minutes of the game, using a 12-2 run to pull ahead 27-11. The Northwestern lead ballooned to as much as 23 points with 4:43 remaining in the first half on three-straight threes, two from Craig Sterk (Jr., McBain, Mich.) and one from Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa).

The two threes accounted for six of Sterk's 20 points on the night.

After trailing 54-40 at the half, Doane began to trim the margin near the halfway point of the second half. The Tigers held the Raiders scoreless for four minutes, going on a 10-0 run to make the score 72-67. It was not until the 49-second mark that Doane took their first lead of the game, hitting three-consecutive free throws to go up 85-82. In the final play, in a scramble for possession, Kaleb Booth (Fr., Carroll, Iowa) threw up a desperation three to tie the game at the buzzer and send it to overtime.

The Tigers took charge in overtime, outscoring Northwestern 16-5 to come away with their second conference win of the season.
