No. 3 Northwestern to Face Marian in Quarterfinals

NWC advances to their third-straight quarterfinal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the Quarterfinals pairings of the 2022 NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS) this evening. The Northwestern College football team (10-1, 9-1 GPAC), ranked No. 3 in the nation in the final week of the regular season, was selected to host the No. 8-ranked Marian (Ind.) Knights (9-1, 6-1 MFSA), slated for Saturday, November 26 at 12:00 p.m.

Marian hails from the Mid-States Football Association (MFSA) and earned an at-large bid to the NAIA FCS. After defeating Saint Xavier (Ill.) 41-7 in the First Round, the Knights will travel to Orange City to play Northwestern, meeting for the second year in a row in the NAIA Quarterfinals.

In 2021, Northwestern defeated Marian 25-20 at home and each team has taken a game in the two-game series history. The Raiders enter Saturday on the heels of a 49-7 win over No. 17-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.).

The Raiders finished the regular season 10-1 (9-1 GPAC) and have won ten-straight games heading into the FCS Quarterfinals. A top-5 ranked offense (476.7 yards per game, 2nd) and defense (225.1 yards allowed per game, 4th) enters the NAIA Quarterfinals for the third-consecutive season, also vying for their third semifinal appearance in that span.

Kickoff is slated for noon (12:00 p.m.) (CT) from Korver Field at De Valois Stadium on the campus of Northwestern College.
