Bolger Scores Two Goals in Raiders' Lopsided Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – Early goals helped Northwestern (6-4-5, 5-1-3 GPAC) separate themselves from Presentation (2-11-1, 0-9-0 GPAC) in Wednesday's Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup, helping the Raiders hold on to the fourth spot in the conference standings.

Northwestern's dominant performance began just a minute in when James Bolger (Boyle, Republic of Ireland) scored on a pass from Joshua Wingfield (Smyrna, Del.) to make the score 1-0. Then, with 10 minutes played, Bolger scored his second goal of the night on a corner kick assist by Luc Roelofs (Balgoji, Netherlands) to extend the lead to two goals.

The Raiders added more at the 17' mark as Johannes von Saldern (Jena, Germany) pushed the ball past Presentation's Eure Baris for his third goal of the season and the third Northwestern goal of the evening. Nikko Helderop (Bismarck, N.D.) later scored his first goal of the year off of a pass from the GPAC's leading assist-getter in van den Beld.

After taking a 4-0 lead into the break, Gerrard Uamai (Dundalk, Republic of Ireland) got ahead of the defense on a long pass from Jacey McFaddin (Wasilla, Alaska) and found the back of the net. It was then Mason McGill (Overland Park, Kan.) who netted his first goal of the season to seal the game at 6-0 with only two minutes left on the clock.

"This is a team that can hang around and keep games close, so I challenged our guys to play at a high tempo and capitalize on their chances," said head coach Dan Swier. "I was proud of them for doing those things and essentially ending the game by halftime."
